1 Peter 2:9 (NIV)
But you are his chosen people, the King’s priests. You are a holy nation,
people who belong to God. He chose you to tell about the wonderful things he
has done. He brought you out of the darkness of sin into his wonderful light.
The bible is filled
with women we can admire, but there is one in specific that stands out to me
the most, her name is Mary (mother of Jesus). Since day one, Mary said YES to
God and completely allowed Him to dictate her life. I imagine Mary had dreams
of her own which didn’t include getting pregnant out of wedlock, undergoing
ridicule, experiencing loneliness, enduring heartache and much less witnessing
the death of her soon to be son. When the angel of the Lord came to Mary with
the news that, through the Holy Spirit, she will conceive a child and He would
be the Messiah, she experienced much fear. Although it was an honorable task
for Mary to bore “The Savior”, fear was still very prevalent. However, she
refused to allow fear to interrupt her God given assignment. Her character and
her answer to the angel were very admirable, she said: “I am the Lord’s
servant, let your words be fulfilled in my life”.
Despite everything
that she was about to endure, the Lord called her “FAVORED”. Mary was an ordinary
girl, but she was chosen, she was humble but very brave. Her tenacity, trust
and perseverance was tested to the very core. All eternity was dependent on her
response to God’s call. Every woman has a distinctive call upon their lives
that only they can perform. I wonder how many women would say YES to the call
of God on their lives and say NO to the fear that tries to hinder them from
becoming everything that God destined them to be. I wonder how many people would be positively
affected if you would say YES to the assignment designed just for you to
execute.
Occasionally we may
fall into a slumber, waiting for someone else to take up the role, but God
chose you because your uniqueness will make the difference. Although the task
may seem difficult at times, you can rest assure that God is with you, He will
equip you, empower you, strengthen you, protect you and guide you, all because
of His love for you. There is an army of
women rising up to the plate and operating in their God given call, will you? I
challenge you to pray and seek the Lord for bravery, boldness and courage to
answer once and for all. Many people are depending on your YES. Just like Mary,
you are also CHOSEN, CALLED, and FAVORED. There is much work to do for His
kingdom. The bible says in Matthew 9:37 “The harvest is plentiful but the
workers are few. Today I would like to encourage you to not waste your talents
and your gifts, but to put them to good use all for God’s glory. He will back
up your YES and He will prove Himself faithful in your life. For those of you
reading this, I know God is tugging at your heart as we speak, reminding you
the many times He called into service, but also reminding you the many times
you have allowed fear instead of faith to govern your decision. There is no
time to waste, your assignment is waiting for you. You are a world changer!
Prayer: Thank You
God for this reminder, thank You for what You have predestined me to accomplish
in Your name. I know that fear has held me back way too long, but I am making a
bold declaration today, that I will trust You as I step out into Your call. I
know that Your grace will carry me through every day of my life. I know that
You walk before me everywhere I go and that Your word is a lamp to my feet and
a light unto my path. What shall I fear my God? If You are with me, what can be
against me? What shall I fear my God? Bigger is the one who lives in me than
the one who lives in the world. I want to make You proud and I want to be
obedient today. In Jesus name I pray, Amen!
